Okay my question after watching the news today 10-29-07 is simple.....
Is the life of a US Member of the Military valued more if they are a officer especially General Officer?
I ask this for one simple reason today Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Dorko was injured in a roadside bomb. This is a daily occurrence in Iraq that the US Military faces and I'm sure several soldiers a week are injured. But not even 12 hours after he was injured CNN was covering the story. As a former soldier and family member and friends of several in harms way daily I was pissed. Not only did they put this info out there but what about the PSD of this General how are they were they injured. We don't know maybe because their family hadn't been notified, so then why put it on the news. I mean the family members of the Generals PSD team know who they protect.
I feel as though the lives of these high ranking officers is valued more then the men and women who deal with the IED threat daily on patrols. I guarantee you the General doesn't go out in his vehicle everyday. And trust me if he does I'm sure he has more security then our average convoy..
SOUND OFF WHAT DO YOU THINK?

hell yeah they are valued more... you know how many soldiers get injured on a daily basis I don't see no news flashes about that.. My baby tommy went on missions every other day... oh and the worst part that really has me heated they just got back home this month and they deploying again Dec. 08... aint that a B*tch
I just dont get it You dont see the faces of all the injured soldiers on major news. And since there are so many you wouldnt expect to but you dont see the faces of the fallen on the news daily. Not to have it as news but to show respect.
no doubt they are valued more, but that's true with so many different aspects in our government and culture. We all know it's not right. Same reason that on a CD, it has the executive producer, but not the guy who was sweeping the studio and rolling the blunts. They don't put the faces of individual soldiers on the news every night because enough of us are against the war as it is. If they put up the faces of injured and lost men and women, the country would go in to an outrage. Thankfully, the administration in power only has a year and change left, and hopefully we'll back out with the change.
Of course its not-equal....If you got brass, you got press coverage....there's no other way to say it...
Its funny because God doesn't value one life over another we are all equal in his eyes...but not so much in our own...
Yes, officers are valued more than the enlisted personal (Pvt-Mgsgt). WhenI was in the military, and I would say "yes sir" to one of my seargents, he would then say "don't call my sir, I work for a living" Bottom line alot of officers if not all of them are overpaid pencil pushers.
