Why is it that some young black women feel white women dont struggle?
When someone woman actually Ill call her a broad cause thats what she was acting like made a comment. She said to her friend or whoever next to her "I don't even notice why she here she need to be living with the rest of her people in Norther VA." I thought to myself is this bitch serious?
So I did what only I would do, i turned to the young black women and said " excuse me are you talking to me" She said "you the only white girl on here aint you."
So I stopped for a second and tired to figure out how to go about this tactfully without making a scene because I had my daughter with me. Well Finally I got in the right mind and went on to tell this woman that I dont know where she has been and how ignoreant to real life she is but not all white women are rich. We all dont have husbands and houses. I went on to say in the perfect world I wouldnt want to live here and you wouldn't either but being that its what I can afford I do what I have to do to put a roof over my childs head. And her apporval of me is irrelevant but i told her that it would behove her to shut her ignorant ass up next time cause by looking at someone you can't tell who they are or what they have been through and making an assumption because of somoenes appearence only makes you look like a ASS!
Well she shut up....
But back to my question why do some young black women think a white woman has it easy, we are all women and as a single mother I work go to school and i am the sole provider for my child. I l ive where i live because its what I can afford and was better then moving into SE DC. Not that I have to justify my living situation but the truth is being a single mother is not easy for anyone white. black or yellow. SO why so much hate and animosity towards be cause I live by you? Thats basically what I was getting from this broad.
Can anyone answer my question?

The problem with this country still is Racism....Middle Class people are Racist agains other Middle class people...and so on. Example: Your struggle isnt as significant as her struggle because the color of your skin...when in fact both of you are taking the same bus in the morning to a job you probably dont like but it pays the bills...to provide for your family. But in her eyes...you chose to live in that neighborhood...so you can be down with black other middle class citizens...you gave up living in a 4 bedroom house paid by your rich white parents who are still married after 40 years, just so you can get some kinda street cred....because at the end of the day thats all white people want is to be down....Is she serious...?
IGNORANCE...that is the main reason why this country is going down....She needs to open her eyes and realize our country is in desprate need of restoration...and people like her are not building up but destroying what little bit of character we have left...
GOD is the only Judge...and only his judgements and opinions mmatter...everyone elses...not so much....
But then she would be quick to call a successful black woman a sell out cause she moved out of said neighborhood. So i guess it all fall sback ti her being miserable and wanting others to be.
Because even though I dont live in the best place I am happy I am 27 and buying a house in DC is not easy so I belive in taking small steps and as long as I continue to move forward I am doing the right thing.
It's as simple as it is ironic. When the Bill O'Reilly's of the world sees black people in one light(MTV BET, etc) It's the same way young blacks see white people(Soaps, Desparate Housewives, etc.)
The problem is communication. We don't interact enough on a level playing field.
Sorry you had to go through it, especially with lil mama with you.
Makes sense that just shows you how naive some are to think that everything you see on TV is real. But i feel what you saying.
damnit..guess the last one i typed didn't go through, so I'll try to remember it as best I can..
I've been through similar situations a few times. She had no right in her assumption, and you handled it the right way. TheFlow got it right. If people haven't been out of their neighborhoods, whether it be predominantly black, or white, or hispanic, or any other race or culture, they're not going to be up on the others. They get their views from TV and the movies. That's because that's the place they see those people.
People like this are the reason why Americans have a hard time with moving on past racial barriers. Life is tough enough without us making it worse with this type of prejudice. She was being ignorant and defensive at the same time. Some times people attack others to make themselves feel better about their situation. You responded the best way towards her and if she has any sense she will remember that the next time she begins to make silly assumptions.

Dats messed up....i would say sarcastically "girl i have nuthin to do wit yo bad day..." and woulda just let dat B keep it movin
i have learned that people show their ignorance in many ways, and to me that is the most popular way to do it now days.. Stereotype. (the other one was jealousy) I dont wish that type of experience on anyone, but the way you handled it could not have gone any smoother - With or without Shay being there with you. Entertaining one's ignorance only brings you DOWN to their level. I can almost guarantee you that the chick is as miserable as miserable can get, and is blaming everyone else for her shortcomings. You gotta do what you gotta do, and if anyone has anything negative to say about the way you handle yours, then they aren't on YOUR level. (Did i make sense?) lol
